Meadowlark Jewellery - Claire & Greg

Believing in a product you make and feeling confident others will too, these are the beginnings of Meadowlark. Claire Hammon and Greg Fromont are the husband and wife team who started the Meadowlark brand back in 2006, after meeting through musician friends in Auckland (Claire is originally from Christchurch).

The name Meadowlark comes from a quote by American wordsmith Ambrose Bierce: 'The strange metallic note of the meadowlark, suggesting the clash of vibrant blades.'

Claire and Greg are able to design and create rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings that could easily feature in a Peter Jackson fantasy movie or Game of Thrones, and then create an altogether different range of jewellery comfortably seen on any runway in a fashion world. However, as both Claire and Greg worked in the fashion industry for almost 20 years, it's no wonder they get it right, time and again.

Perhaps it is for these reasons famous personalities such as Lorde, Rihanna and Florence Welch of Florence and The Machine, love and wear Meadowlark jewellery. Or perhaps it is the dark and moody style of their pieces which they adore. Either way, Meadowlark have a recipe which works. Lorde wore Meadowlark in a Rolling Stones and Yen magazine cover and wore Meadowlark's solid silver 'Wreath' necklace in her Royals video.

Their cocktail ring range offer a whole lot of glam to any night out, with gemstones available in blue topaz, citrine, onyx, rose quartz, smokey quartz and Thai garnet.

The new 2016 Zenith collection is available in all Walker & Hall stores, including online. Zenith is an imaginary point directly 'above' a particular location. Think astronomy and spirituality and these are the Zenith jewellery pieces.

Proud to offer New Zealand made jewellery and providing dedicated staff, means the quality of each piece of jewellery is always there.

Keen to recycle as much as possible, all metal scraps are sent back to the foundry for reuse, the sandpaper with bits of metal in it, the vacuum bags after the workshop has been cleaned, even the extractions from the machines. Anything which has been involved in the metal work is not wasted. Furthermore, the diamonds are sourced conflict-free, beautifully wrapped in cardboard packing ready to be recycled. Such details build respect from buyers as well as knowing each Meadowlark piece is finished by hand.

Now thirteen collections on, doing what Claire and Greg love, this full-time creative business has a strong style and an almost cult status following. Overseas stockists are found in California, New York, Portland, Texas, Australia and the UK. Creating beautifully crafted pieces, building a strong brand and being environmentally responsible is the key to their longevity.
