The Toki is a symbol of Mana - strength. The Toki was an everyday tool used for cutting and digging, and they were worn by Maori elders as a symbol of power, wisdom and authority. They were often used to carve canoes or detailing on their meeting houses.

Toki represents determination, control, strength, focus, and honour. Its shape represents an adze head.

Kawakawa pounamu is dark green with varying shades and is named after the pepper tree.

The Toki rests on a black cord.
