Distinctly glamorous, this ruby and diamond ring from our coveted Curated collection showcases a deep red Burmese ruby with two oval brilliant cut diamonds set in 18ct white gold with yellow gold claws.

“Ruby over two carat is rare, and the price responds accordingly. However, there was no hesitation when a long-favoured gem dealer presented this impressive ruby to me for consideration. Although the colour was in the correct pigeon blood zone, the transparency appealing, the proportions allowing for brilliance without hidden weight, it was the size that had me nodding yes.

A 4 carat Burmese ruby should be a part of every serious jewellery lover's “wardrobe”, named the king of gems, ruby is associated with love wealth and wisdom, bestowing the wearer with these same qualities. In determining the ring design, I wanted to elevate the ruby as the central focus and also complement its size and shape, employing significant matching oval diamonds. Securing the ruby with an 18ct yellow gold setting helped to contrast the dramatic red hue of the ruby from the perfectly matched (.01 of a mm variation in proportions) fine white side oval diamonds in 18ct white gold. The shank in our hallmark 1899 quality, solid and of high palladium content assures an heirloom for generations to come.” - Joseph Tattersfield
