The story of how we met.We were in our first year at Uni, staying in the same hostel but had never met. Midway through the year my room and the rooms adjacent were in need of renovation so I was relocated to the room opposite his. After my first few days there we had our hostel Ball, and I had come to recognise him as the cute boy next door. Somehow everywhere I looked that night I saw him, and after seeing him alone at a table for a while I got up the courage to talk to him. Though while on my way to his table I got intercepted and asked to dance, by the time the song had finished he was gone. Not long after my friends and I returned to our hostel and were invited into another room on the floor. Lo and behold he was one of the 3 other people there. It was that night he went from the cute boy next door to someone I wanted to listen to for hours. The following night was his birthday, which was unbeknownst to me at the time so being invited to have drinks by his friends was a surprise, though absolutely a pleasant one. That night was uneventful as far as parties go, but was the solidifying interaction between us from which I wanted him in my life one way or another. The third and final night of what I consider the beginning of our journey through life together was one of beautiful simplicity. We found ourselves in the hallway at the same time late at night and struck up polite conversation, which evolved into staying up until breakfast talking about anything and everything. Throughout that day we continued the conversation through messages despite both falling asleep in our classes. From that day we reached an unspoken mutual understanding that we wanted to be in each other's lives forever. There was never an official 'asking out', we were and are best friends on a journey who couldn't be more in love with each other.
