I met my husband Dave in wales, and what was supposed to be a 3 month job, which quickly turned into a 3 year stay. I was 18 and he was 21. It was my first time overseas. We worked for a outdoor adventure centre in a stunning location. We locked eyes on the first night at a local pub, and I thought he had beautiful eyes. However our first meeting was less romantic, but more revolting. Dave and his two roommates were in a bedroom next to mine and my roommates and on the other side was the boys toilets. Yep you guessed it, after a few too many drinks one evening, Dave got up to go to the bathroom ( nude ) and entered...... the wrong room!!!!. The result was me waking from a dream where it was "raining ", however, it wasn't rain, but Dave weeing all over me!!. And my Scottish roommate yelling at him in a language I didn't understand. Needless to say I was horrified and totally embarrassed!!!. Once he left, I showered and found somewhere else to sleep ( thank goodness for a spare bed in my room). The next morning I was dreading going down to the staff room for our morning staff meeting. Suzie ( my Scottish roommate) and I entered, and there he was, smiling and chatting away with some other staff members. Well Suzie went nuts at him ( to this day I still can't understand what she was / is saying ) Dave looked totally confused and stunned, then he looked at me with those beautiful eyes and was so applauded and apologetic, he got up hugged me, offered to clean up the mess and took me out for dinner. After a while we started dating but after 8 months I had a job in Scotland and Dave was heading off to America. We thought that was that, however after a week Dave started writing me love letters and for the next two years we corresponded by mail ( snail mail ). He asked me to visit him at Easter, I was worried ( maybe he wouldn't like the look of me anymore?!), but I went. And 22 years later we have 3 children and have celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary in November last year ( he cooks me yummy ribs every year ). He's a bugger, but I love him xx And if it wasn't for the 2 1/2 years of love letters ( proof of relationship ) we may not be living in this beautiful country x
