Hi Nicola, what is the story behind REAL WORLD and how did it all begin?
Real World was born from my struggle with dry, damaged, sore hands, which I traced to harsh supermarket cleaning products that were ruining my skin. In my home, I began experimenting with plant-based ingredients to create gentle, luxurious cleaners and personal care products that healed my hands and felt indulgent. Inspired to elevate everyday routines, I founded Real World to share high-quality, sustainable solutions that bring joy, ease, and care to homes everywhere.
How did your experience as a mother influence the journey of starting your own brand?
Motherhood taught me to cherish efficiency without sacrificing quality, as every moment counts in a busy family life. It drove me to create products that make self-care and home care seamless, allowing parents to feel pampered amidst the chaos. Our kids inspired me to prioritize natural, safe ingredients, ensuring our products are gentle for families while delivering a touch of luxury.
Why is it important for you to make your products locally?
Local production allows us to maintain exceptional quality and sustainability by working closely with trusted New Zealand artisans and suppliers. It supports our community, reduces environmental impact through shorter supply chains, and ensures every product reflects the care and craftsmanship our customers deserve. Staying local keeps us connected to our roots, fostering authenticity in everything we create.
Self-care and enjoying luxuries often takes a back seat for busy parents. What does it mean to you when customers share that your products have brought comfort and joy into their lives?
Hearing that our products bring comfort and joy to busy parents is incredibly rewarding—it’s why we do what we do. Knowing a quick spritz of our bench spray or a moment with our body lotion offers a slice of luxury amidst their hectic days feels like a small victory. It’s a reminder that we’re helping families find simple, meaningful ways to care for themselves and their homes.
